A Very Special Day for Some Very Special People

 

Class of 2008 and their Parents:

A day which started with a sky full of clouds and a threat of inclement weather gave way to a beautiful afternoon of sunshine and warm temperatures for Senior Day 2008.  Just prior to first pitch against New Hope, the Guntersville High School Softball Class of 2008 was presented a rose and recognized with their parents for their high school accomplishments.  Each senior had their jersey number painted along the first base line in foul territory to honor their 21 years of (combined) service to the GHS Softball Program.

The Wildcats scored four runs in the first inning, only to give all four back in the second.  Guntersville would regain the lead at 5-4 in the bottom of the second and hold it until the 6th.  New Hope scored three in the 6th to defeat the Wildcats 7-5.  In the game, Senior Pitcher Amanda Mason recorded the 500th strikeout of her career.  She would fan three more in the game to bring her current total to 503--132 this season.
