JV CATS BATTLE FROM 3-0 DEFICIT TO TAME LIONS

The JV Cats found themselves in a 3-0 hole Tuesday night before rallying late to take the lead for good as the JV Cats improved to 8-2 on the season.

After 2 scoreless innings, the first three Lion batters of the 3rd inning reached on two walks and a Wildcat error.  The first out of the inning came on an Infield Fly to second base--an unusual fly that scored the runner from third.  The next Lion fired a rocket to the left center field fence, scoring two more to stretch the lead to 3-0 going into the bottom of the third.

In the Wildcat third, Jessy Baker led off with a single, but was caught stealing second.  Deanna Creps followed with walk and Kaitlyn Bannister came through with a double to score Creps from first. Bannister, Langner, and Mashburn all scored runs in the fourth as well to take the lead. 

In the fourth, Bryneth Buckner reached on a Lion error to lead off the inning.  Baker followed with a single, and Bannister cleared the bases with her 5th triple of the season.  The score at the end of 4 was 7-3, Cats.

Guntersville added 3 more runs in the 5th after singles by Buckner, Wise, and Creps, and a bases-clearing triple by Jessy Baker.  Baker, normally a slapper, stayed back and crushed a bomb to the right field fence to score Wise and Earp.  Guntersville shut down the Lions in the bottom of the fifth to secure their eighth win of the season.
