Guntersville JV gets 4th straight win at Douglas
The Guntersville JV Wildcats picked up their 4th straight win Thursday night with a 7-3 victory over Douglas. Bryneth Buckner recorded her second win of the season, both wins over Douglas.
The Cats struck first in the 3rd after Jessy Baker and Deanna Creps walked. Kaitlyn Bannister tripled to clear the bases and put the Cats on top 2-0. Bannister would score on a passed ball two pitches later. The Eagles would answer in the bottom half after H Burks led the inning off with a single to centerfield. P. Bonds singled to left field to score Burks and the Eagles trailed 3-1 after 3.
Deanna Creps led off the 4th with a triple to centerfield and Bannister singled her home to stretch the lead to 4-1. Douglas answered the the bottom half of the 5th as a Wildcat fielding error led to an Eagle unearned run to cut the lead to 4-2, Cats. Douglas added another run in the 5th when P.Bonds singled in S Baker to cut the lead to 4-3.
In the Wildcat 6th, Guntersville took the game over, scoring 3 insurance runs on 3 walks and Kaitlyn Bannister's second triple of the game. Baker, Bannister, and Lauren Wise all scored in the inning to secure the win. Buckner and Bannister recorded an RBI each in the inning.
With the win, the Wildcats improve to 9-2 on the season.
