JV CATS COME FROM BEHIND TO DEFEAT DOUGLAS 2-1 IN HOME-OPENER

The JV Cats battled from a one run deficit to defeat Douglas and remain unbeaten after two contests.  The night started with a walk by Deanna Creps, followed by a Jessy Baker infield single.  Kaitlin Bannister reached on an error and the JV Cats were in business with bases loaded and one out.  Douglas pitcher, (S) Baker found her groove in the middle of the Guntersville lineup, striking out the 5 and 6 hole hitters, and the Wildcats left the bases full in the opening inning.

Bryneth Buckner got her first strikeout of the year by tossing a full count fastball by Eagles' shortstop (F) Smith and proceeded to strikeout 2 more Eagles over the next 2 innings.  Douglas drew first blood in the top of the 3rd when (H) Cochran doubled, and was then driven in by (L) Dewberry on a Wildcat error.

Kaitlin Bannister came in to pitch in the 4th inning, while Morgan Earp moved to shortstop and Bryneth Buckner moved to 2nd base.  Bannister fanned the first 3 batters she faced and carried that momentum into the bottom half of the inning as she led off with a bomb to left-center for a triple.  Bethany Langer singled to drive in Bannister and advanced to second on an error.  Wildcat catcher, Lauren Wise sacrificed Langner in to complete all scoring (2-1 Cats).

Bannister finished the game in the bottom of the 5th with 2 more strikeouts, striking out 5 of the 6 batters she faced, and allowing no hits.  Guntersville improves to 2-0 and plays Arab Monday, March 3 at 6:00 at the new Guntersville Softball Stadium.  North Jackson comes to town on Tuesday and DAR comes in on Thursday.
