JV CATS SHUTOUT CHEROKEE COUNTY
Cara Lee Mason picked up her second win of the season Monday as the Guntersville JV shut out Cherokee County 2-0. With two outs in the first inning, Bethany Langer walked to set up an RBI triple by Kaitlyn Bannister. Mason struck out 2 of the first three batters and fielded a ground ball to record all three outs in the first and the Cats led 1-0 after one full inning.
Despite walking the leadoff batters in 3 of the next four innings, Mason and her defense allowed no Warriors to get a hit or cross home plate. In the fourth inning, Kaitlyn Bannister singled to shallow left field. Two stolen bases and a passed ball later, Bannister was in the house with another Wildcat run.
(D) Rosser walked to lead off the bottom of the 5th for the warriors, but was forced out at second when Wildcat second baseman Bryneth Buckner tossed a ground ball to Bannister for the first out of the inning. Mason struck out (T) Harris for out number two, and then fielded a ground ball by (T) Decker to end the game.
The JV Cats improved to 7-2 on the season and will host Sardis Tuesday at 6:30.
