CREPS HOMERS, CATS SWEEP PIRATES

Eighth grader Deanna Creps opened the game with the blast of her career Monday night as she took a 1-0 pitch deep to centerfield, over the 200' fence to give the Cats a lead the Pirates could not overcome.  The homer was the first of the season to clear the fence for a JV Cat. There was no doubt as it left the bat and the Cats were off to a great start.  Bannister followed, reaching on a Pirate error and would score to give the Cats a 2-0 lead. 

Boaz answered with 2 runs of their own in the bottom of the first on two singles and two walks to tie the game at two. 

In the third, Creps led off with a walk and scored two pitches later on a Kaitlyn Bannister double.  Bannister would cross home plate on a wild pitch.  The score at the end of 3 was 4-2 Cats.

In the fifth, Bannister reached on a fielder's choice and scored on a Bethany Langner single up the middle.  Langner would score on a wild pitch to put the Cats up 6-2 going into the bottom of the fourth.  Boaz made a run in the bottom half, scoring 3 runs on 2 hits and 2 Wildcat errors to cut the lead down to 1 run at 6-5. 

In the last inning, Morgan Earp led off with a walk, and Baker followed with a single.  Creps walked to load the bases for Guntersville.  Peyton Whitaker singled to keep the Cats alive.  Bethany Langner then drove in Earp to give the Wildcats a little insurance at 7-5.

Boaz plated one more run in the last inning before the Wildcats could retire the side and end the game with a 7-6 victory.  The JV Cats improve to 15-2 on the season with one more home game on Thursday vs. New Hope, the Albertville Tourney this weekend, and the County Tournament next Monday and Tuesday.  The final game of the season will be at DAR on Wednesday, April 9 at 4:00 in a re-scheduled game from Tuesday, April 1.
