The Comeback Cats...In each of the three tournament games, the Wildcats found themselves in a 4-0 deficit to Albertville, a 2-0 deficit to Boaz, and a 1-0 deficit to Weaver; the Cats won two and tied (the second game vs. Boaz) one.

In game one vs. Albertville, Guntersville fell behind 4-0 after only two innings.  It looked momentarily like a repeat of the 8-1 loss at the hands of the Aggies two weeks ago.  In the third, Jessy Baker and Deanna Creps got things started with a pair of singles and Kaitlyn Bannister hit the second of her three doubles of the game to score two.  Bannister then scored on a passed ball to cut the lead to 4-3.

In the fifth and final inning, Creps and Bannister both doubled and eventually scored.  Whitaker and Langner both walked and eventually scored and Laney Hardin added an RBI to finish off the Aggies 8-5.

In game two vs. Boaz, the Lady Pirates struck for 2 in the first.  Guntersville didn't get on the board until the 4th inning when Kaitlyn Bannister singled and later scored on a Laney Hardin single.  It was 2-1 Boaz going into the 5th.  Morgan Earp led off the 5th with a single to left field and Lauren Wise got a great sac bunt down to move Earp into scoring position.  Samantha Newman walked and Danna Creps drove Earp in to tie the game.  Newman would score on a wild pitch moments later to give the Cats a brief one run lead going into the final half-inning.

Then with 2 outs in the final inning, Boaz rallied to get bases loaded thanks in part to a disagreement between umpires--one had an out call and the other had a safe call--safe guy won and the bases were juiced.  The game-tieing run scored on a passed ball before Bannister struck out the final three batters to end the game in a 3-3 tie.

In game three vs. Weaver, the Cats fell behind 1-0 in the first, before scoring two in the second on three consecutive singles by Whitaker, Hardin, and Earp.  Weaver tied the game in the third on an (A) Smith single.

In the Wildcat's final inning, Morgan Earp led off with a walk and Jessy Baker reached on an error.  Both would score on Deanna Creps' triple who would trade places with Bannister who tripled her home to make the score 5-2 Cats.  Bethany Langer would then add icing on the cake by driving in Bannister to finish off Weaver by a score of 6-2.

Bryneth Buckner got the win for the Cats, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits with 2 strikeouts and no walks in three innings of work.  Kaitlyn Bannister finished the game, giving up no runs on 1 hit, with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks in two innings pitched.
