VARSITY CATS DEFEAT WEAVER, FALL TO A'VILLE, BOAZ
After trading runs in the first four innings of game 1 of the Boaz Invitational, the Wildcats came from behind in the final inning to tie Albertville at 4-4. With two outs in the final inning, the Aggies pushed across the final run of the game to steal a close one, 5-4.
In game two, Boaz scored first and last as the Lady Pirates handed the Wildcats their second loss of the tournament. In game three, the Lady Cats came to life and pounded a dozen hits in only five innings of work to defeat Weaver 7-2. Filling in for older sister Amanda (who was sick), eighth grader Cara Lee Mason picked up her first career varsity win, giving up only 2 runs (0 ER), on 5 hits in 6 innings with 4 strikeouts and 1 walk.
The Wildcat bats continue to warm up as 4 Cats are batting over .300 for the season, and 3 more hovering in the .260's. For the season, Chloe Whitaker leads all Cats with a .378 average and has hit safely in 8 of the last 9 games. Harden, Thomas, and McDonald are all over .300 as well. Whitaker leads in total runs scored with 18, followed by Redington (16), Thomas (13), and Harden (11). Beverly McDonald leads all Cats with 18 RBIs, followed by Harden (14), Redington (13), and Thomas (10).
